Welcome Back!

It’s been a while since my last post and wanted to give a quick update about things. I’m in the process of making this website more content friendly and doing some changes like fonts and network security. Had to gather source code to projects I had done over the years for the new portfolio/project page I just recently added. Unfortunately I’ve done projects that I was unable to recover the source code for and if I happen to find them I will add them to the projects page. Still in the process of studying for the AWS architect certification and I will give an update as to when I will schedule the test. Also I’ve registered for a microsoft teams app development hackathon that I will post updates for as well. Fun times!

Study Study Study

In the process of going through a Udemy course for the AWS exam I plan to take again. I suck at taking tests, it all started in grade school. I was never really a fan, too much anxiety about it but I got through it. Its not about the content I think its more about feeling comfortable and confident in what I actually know and to not freak myself out. I’m usually pretty calm about stuff but tests really get to me. Staying positive.

AWS Solutions Architect Associate Results

Took it yesterday. Failed it. I think I knew after there was a thunderstorm that knocked out the power to the row of computers (mine included) that went out. Had to move to another computer during the test. I can laugh about it now….

AWS Cloud Course Update

So I’ve went through the free month on Udacity for the AWS cloud architect course and got to the final project. I had to submit the final project a few times but I guess the reviewer didn’t like my screenshots. The course didn’t provide us with any credits since we were told to use our own personal AWS accounts which was fine. I was able to learn how to use the console and apply specific resources to my account and my active instances. I did get the chance to learn a few real world use cases for live running applications. This experience will help me complete the actual AWS Solutions Architect Associate certification that will be recognized by AWS themselves. Studying as we speak. I plan on taking the exam in a few weeks, maybe the beginning of July.

AWS Course Update

So I’ve just passed the first project in the AWS architect course and found out they take screenshots for the projects. I guess the free credits or student AWS accounts aren’t available for this course. I guess it makes things easier, the only thing is remembering to delete resources after using them after a lesson. So far so good, the AWS console is getting less scary and more familiar, I do appreciate all the default options when configuring certain resource services. Whew.

AWS

I’ve just recently started a free month course on Udacity for AWS cloud architect and so far it’s captured my attention more than the GPC course I completed. Plus the whole month as a deadline makes this more realistic to learn and retain the content. I did like a few features the GPC course had, mainly app engine. This AWS course seems more fun and interesting just because I do enjoy how the course content is set up. Not sure how to submit projects just yet, seems to be an issue with students getting credits to get hands-on learning done in the AWS console. I’ve been using my personal account to save time. Will update soon about this course.

GPC

Finished the google cloud platform course on core infrastructure earlier this morning. Not sure if I should continue the courses for the architect exam or the application developer specialization. Seems I should choose the second option just because I believe it will be a better use of my time since application development is something I’m trying to wrap my head around. I’m also in the process of finding a decent course to learn python syntax for machine learning. Will update soon about how that’s going.

Cloud Courses

It’s been some recent courses that have popped up for cloud architecture. Currently working on the Google Cloud Platform core infrastructure course. And I’m also seeing one for Amazon Web Services, which I’m more excited about just because nothing really tops their free tier option for some of the services they provide. And also I like the new UI from the AWS console that’s been updated. Way better now and a lot less confusing!

Face Mask Required

So for our state for the month of May, all stores and shops will not be allowing any customers inside without a face mask. I learned the hard way and was unable to shop today but at least I got to go out and enjoy the weather. The one day I didn’t check the news, fantastic.

New May Courses

Found out about a free trial week for a Coursera course so I plan to work on this next week. Will consider purchasing after just because I’m working on a project that will utilize the Google cloud platform. I’ve already deployed static sites with GCP but getting awarded a certificate will help me get familiar with the platform as far as application integration and scaling. I’m not to familiar with that process and I’m excited to check it out.
